Being a sailor senshi was really weighing Alex down. It wasn’t that she didn’t love it, quite the contrary actually. She loved it. She loved the power; she loved the feeling of being wanted. But as she tried to balance being a senshi, a professional race car driver, and a functioning member of the track team, things started to stress her out. So when she opened her mailbox to find an invitation to a masquerade, she jumped at the chance to go.

The masquerade would also be a good chance to officially ask Rosemary out on an official date. The two girls had met by chance one day, and from then on Alex couldn’t get the girl out of her head. Then it was revealed that both girls were senshi, which only helped make their bond grow stronger. The girls had been spending a lot of time with each other, but they were usually fighting youma or strategizing on what to do next with their newfound abilities. The next day Alex found Rosie and asked if she wanted to accompany her to the masquerade. As it turned out, Rosemary had also received an invitation and she was going to ask Alex to go. That made sense. Both girls were famous around Infinity College and Japan, why wouldn’t they be invited to this party?

Rosemary said she would go with Alex, but there was a condition: Alex had to wear a dress. At first she was a little miffed at the idea, but since Alex would do just about anything for Rosie, she complied and said that she would wear a dress to the party.

A few more days passed and Alex made all the necessary preparations. She bought a dress and a pair of ankle boots and of course a mask. She got ready for the evening, putting on her dress, mask, and of course her leather jacket. Rosie never said that Alex couldn’t keep her personal style and masculine charm.

The two girls agreed to meet at the masquerade. So Alex drove her car to the event and walked into the grand ballroom and stood at the top of the stairs and peered over the people who were attending, trying to find Rosie’s familiar figure. Alex descended the stairs and made her way to the refreshment table and poured herself a glass of punch before turning around to scan the crowd.

Rosemary had never realized this before, but hiding a scepter in a ball gown wasn't exactly the easiest task in the world. Face it, long elegant dresses almost never had deep pockets built in and her transforming scepter was kind of a bulky item. To add on to it, even if her dress had been installed with pockets large enough, the weight of her transformation scepter was enough to pull off the draping on her dress and make it look all wrong and this night had to be perfect. Rosie paused for a second, wishing she could just leave the cursed thing at home, but knew that she would feel much more comfortable with it on her person if something were to happen. Besides, have you ever tried to fight a youma in a ball gown? Didn't think so.

So, as a compromise, Rosie had scrounged up a nice silver clutch that was just big enough to hold the scepter and squeeze in a couple other important essentials. She took one last glance in her mirror before giving herself an approving nod and heading out the door. Rosemary wasn't exactly the type to drive herself to places (it was just boring) so she had called a taxi to get to the masquerade. The event was slightly odd in her opinion. Never before had she heard of a masquerade being thrown in the city, but she had only been around for a couple years so there was a good possibility that she had just never noticed before or just never had a reason to keep an eye out for events like that. Alex had given her that reason this time.

The thought of her partner senshi gave Rosemary butterflies in her stomach. At first when Alex had transformed for the first time, Rosemary had felt horrible that she couldn't have prevented Alex from the same fate, but after some time, she didn't wish it was anyone else. Alex brought out a side of her that no one else had managed to before. With her outgoing and flirty personality, she balanced Rosemary out perfectly. Although Rosie still wasn't completely comfortable with her new found powers and the consequences they might bring, Alex was helping her get more confident in it which was very good since Rosie didn't really have a choice on whether or not she wanted to go through on this mission. If she wanted the world to have a fighting chance at life, she'd just have to keep fighting.

The taxi pulled up in front of the masquerade and Rosemary pulled up the white silk on her dress to step out, revealing part of one slender leg. She walked up the stairs to the front door and slipped inside, finding herself at the top of the grand staircase. Her white dress floated to the floor around her, a layer of chiffon draped around her hips and falling lower on her right side. Her bodice was a corset top with chiffon sleeves falling over her shoulders and tiny rhinestones embroidered in little designs throughout the dress. Her mask, which she had donned in the taxi, was a delicate creation that took after the Venetian masks of Italy with a silver metal swan gracing the side of it. Rosie's hair fell in her trademark waves over her bare shoulders with small little silver strands scattered throughout to compliment her costume. Rosemary's eyes scanned the ballroom when she finally noticed her date.

Descending the stairs, Rosie headed straight for the refreshment table and slipping her fingers into Alex's hand. "I heard the punch was spiked so I wouldn't drink too much unless you want to end up hiding underneath this table," she teased, her eyes sparkling behind the mask. A breeze from an open window caught stray rose petals that had been scattered on a nearby table, blowing the petals past the pair as faint violin music began to play in the background.
