Huh. So this is my so called "cousin"?
The young girl's head was slightly inclined to the left as her light blue eyes examined a family portrait that sat upon the fireplace mantle.
And this is the people that I'm related to... Of course she wasn't related to them by blood. Not even a little. But to anyone who asked; "yes" she was their blood relative. Their very close cousin twice removed or something along those lines that hadn't visited them for a few years. The story that she came up with was that the last time she saw them was the Christmas of '06. She had also included that theirs and her own family was close. That they used to come every Christmas before, and even some other holidays and birthdays. That sounded good to add, right? It made it seem like she wasn't a complete stranger, but it was a really simple story that she had come up with at the top of her head. Rini hadn't had the time to make up an entire history. Even though it was what she was doing, she wasn't here to deceive and manipulate the innocent people. All she was here to do was ensure the safety of her future. But, to do that, she did need food, a bed, water, a bed. She really wanted a bed. For the past week that she had been living with another family that she had "charmed" into letting her stay with them, but somehow they forgot all about her one morning and kicked her out. The neighbors had seen the event so manipulating them again would have raised to many questions. What she didn't understand was how they forgot about her. She hadn't asked Luna-P to use the power often, but it was all "1. 2. 3.", a simple transformation of her best friend. The last family didn't really matter though. She had found a new one to stay with, the Parkers. They were nice and Luna-P had easily got them to let their cousin stay for the time being. Or at least, most of them...
One of them hadn't been home when Rini came to the door. The person in question was the so called "cousin" that Rini was now looking at in the family portrait. She had found out that the boy was about her age but the girl? The girl was definitely older than her.
Ugh, teenagers. Especially teenage girls. She hoped that she was the kind of teenager that would ignore her. Rini never really wanted a sister so she didn't want a sisterly fake cousin. She also didn't need the parents and brother to be as nice as they were either, but, she had to admit that living with a family that would care about her, even if the feelings weren't really real, was nice. It was nice to be cared for.
Straightening her neck, so it wasn't tilted anymore, Rini shook her head, mentally dismissing the thoughts that ran through her mind. She then proceeded to turn on her heel, looking down at the black, cat like ball that was on the ground besides her.
With a distant gaze, Rini picked up her friend. Her blue eyes meeting that of Luna-P's darker ones. "Why don't we go upstairs? Check the place out?" She had those important matters to tend to, of course. But she did need to get settled in here, so why not explore? See exactly where she was living.
Arms gently wrapped around Luna-P, she made her way to the staircase, heading up the steps to the floor above. Honestly, she had no clue where she was wandering while up here. Her plan had to been to find a room for herself. She couldn't remember what the mother had told her but she had mentioned something about upstairs. And even though her plan was to find a room, when one of the first rooms she peered into, to see if it was vacant or not, she had stumbled across what appeared to be the teenagers room.
Hm... It couldn't hurt. She wouldn't be home for some time, so Rini thought. So, out of curiosity, maybe there was clothes she could borrow? Probably not, they'd be to big. But maybe jewelry or make up?
Glancing over her shoulder once in a stealthy, checking to make sure, way, Rini slipped into the bedroom and silently shut the door behind her.
"Now where to start..."

“Damn my love of late night romantic comedies,” was only something along the lines of what was running through Selene’s mind, her focus hazing away from the algebra she was supposed to be learning towards the idea of making up for all the lost hours of sleep. If one were to look at her, they would immediately be able to tell that the temptation was great. She still managed to keep her head propped up and rested on one hand though, an attempt at a futile effort to stay conscious, while the other hand dangled a pen from her fingers, as they weakly moved up and down along a sheet of paper, writing down what she hoped were slightly messy notes. She bit her lip, the discomfort of being so tired becoming more overwhelming, but only leaned more into the palm of her hand as it became more and more like a soft pillow than a prompt to stay awake. The numbers on the board in front of her went from being formulas and answers to a mess of nothing in particular as another wave of sleep hit her. The pen dropped from her limp fingers onto the paper, and her already heavy eyes reluctantly fluttered shut, getting one last look at the dauntingly slow clock.
A few, peaceful minutes passed before a shrill voice erupted; shrill enough to jolt Selene from her sleep. ”PARKER,” it barked, offended by the comfort she had decided to take. She scrambled up, grabbing her pen and papers, feeling the rude glare of her teacher burning into the back of her head. ”Thank you for joining us again,” a small amount of laughter came from everybody in the room. Instead of taking offense she twisted around, smiling sweetly at her teacher. She laughed, unaware herself if she actually was as amused as she sounded, but she wasted no time on the thought as her teacher only took more offense, saying nothing in return to the friendly smile, instead going to the front of the room to a small brown desk with papers neatly along the top of it. She picked up one stack in particular and began handing them out to the original owners. ”I’ve graded last Friday’s test. Some of you did fantastic- some of you put in an… interesting amount of effort.” The sentence was finished with an unsatisfied tone, making Selene wince as the teacher put down a paper in front of her almost as soon as she had finished talking. On it was a bold, red inked 30.
”No, no, no, no,” she groaned, doubling over as if something had punched her in the gut. Something had done so, actually, she thought, resting her forehead on the cold desk; the thought of an angry mother locking her out of the house when she found out about the test. She could feel her eyes burning with tears, but no, she would not allow herself to cry. Not at the moment, anyways. The bell then rang, and Selene hurried out of the classroom before anyone could notice, and she began her daily walk home, the test still in her hand with a tight grip. The walk consisted of going through Ikebukuro, a district that usually seemed lively, but with her current mood, if anything was lively it was just annoying. No matter, she was going a noticeably slower pace than she usually did when going home. She stuffed the paper down her pants pocket, zipping up the front of her sweater as she was now aware of the nipping cold. This day would be a tormenting one, the list of notable things consisting of a failed test, cold weather, and an irritable mother waiting for her at home.
Several turned corners and dragged footsteps later, and she soon found herself in front of her home. Selene rested her forehead again, this time on the front door, groaning again. She placed her hand against the lump in her pocket. Without warning, the door flung open, Selene almost flinging forward with it. ”Finally, you’re home.” Her mother’s voice met her as she maintained her balance. She sounded cheerful, cheerful enough for Selene to offer a smile to. ”I was worried. You know that I don’t like it when you’re late like this. Not with all of the disappearances lately. I shouldn’t even be letting you walk home, not alone.” She waved her hand, rolling her eyes at her mother’s worry. ”I’ll be fine, mama.” The lump in her pocket grew heavier with each step she took into the house, but she ignored the weight of the impending doom, choosing to unzip her jacket instead and hang it on the coat hanger next to the front door. ”Get ready for dinner, alright?” She made her way towards the kitchen, doing the same wave of her hand as Selene. ”Yes, mama,” she said, wasting no time to run upstairs to the comfort of her bedroom. ”Oh, and Selene—“ but she didn’t bother to listen to the rest of the sentence, fearing for talk of school work and failed tests, quickly opening and closing the door of her room behind her. She sighed, a heavy amount of relief settling in her for now. She pulled the now crumpled paper out of her pocket, grimacing at it, crumpling it even more and throwing it to the wastebasket next to her bed. It bounced off of the rim and rolled onto the floor, but she paid no attention to it, since her attention had now been caught by the young girl standing in the middle of the room. ”Excuse me!?!?!?” She shrieked, alarmed at the stranger’s sudden presence. ”Who are you!!?? Get out of my room!!!”

"Garbage... Garbage... Garbage... More garbage..." Rini repeated with sighs and rolls of her eyes as she skimmed through the closet.
Nope. She wasn't liking anything in there. The outfits may have been good, but in the young girl's eyes... Not so much. Maybe it was because a lot of them would obviously not fit her. Rini wasn't paying much real attention. As soon as she firmly decided in her mind that she didn't like a particular detail about a piece of clothing, she'd push it aside to view another outfit.
It was making her frustrated.
Dropping her hands from the clothing, she pushed the closet shut, her eyes sweeping over the bedroom as she walked to the center. She had only looked in the closet so far. It was the first thing she saw and she had also wanted to see what kinds of clothes were in there, see if she could wear any. Rini hadn't exactly brought an entire wardrobe with her. But as she had checked, it turned out that she couldn't wear the clothes the teenager owned which meant... Shopping! That usually be a good thing. Shopping was something that was considered fun to Rini, but... It was more fun when you actually had some money to spend.
Maybe I can convince this family to buy me something or-...
Rini's thoughts were cut off when she heard the bedroom door open. The click of the door causing her to pause, muscles tightening as mild fear crept into her chest. Rini turned her attention to the doorway, spotting a blonde, her "cousin" from the photo, making her way into the room. Rini had expected her to throw a fit immediately but, apparently the teenager was to wrapped up in her thoughts, for the moment, to notice her for she had simply walked inside and shut the door behind her before proceeding to pull out a crumpled piece of paper from her pocket. Rini couldn't see what it was, but she did see that whatever was written on the paper had made the girl grimace and toss it into the wastebasket next to her bed. Only, it hadn't exactly landed in its destination, instead bouncing off the baskets rim which in turn made it roll onto the floor not all to far away from where Rini stood.
The paper had missed the basket because, well, one the girl could have been a terrible thrower, but now, her cousin had noticed her.
Rini would have opened her mouth, to say "took you long enough" with a playful smirk or something along those lines, but before she could say anything the girl had shrieked. Very loudly.
The noise made Rini wince and half reach her hands up to her ears to shield them. "Stop yelling!" Rini shrieked back at her. Her voice then lowered for what she had to say next. "Ouch! Jeesh. Is that how you treat your cousin?" She huffed, her arms crossing over her chest.
As she did so, her eyes met that of the piece of paper, remembering the look she had when she took it out...
Hm...
"What's this?" Rini's tone was filled with curiosity as she stepped over to the paper, momentarily bending down to pick it up. She then stood, unfolding the piece of crumpled paper to look at it contents.

Selene gaped at the girl, and started to show off her famous, surprised, stutter. "ME? YELLING? Wh- whatever!!!" she huffed as well, her hands placed on her hips. The last bit caught her off guard even more, and she shook her head violently, her blond hair flying about. "Excuse me? Cousin? What? No, no, no, I think you're sadly mistaken, kiddo." She sighed, feeling a little sorry for the girl. The poor child was probably lost, homeless even! With that thought she took a mental note to check her closet and dresser later, as well as any cash that she might have had tucked away.
"Look," Selene started, a calmer tone taking over the panicked one once she realized the possibility of this just being charity case. "I'm sorry, Cousin," she was ready to laugh, as she said the last word with a harsh amount of sarcasm, until she noticed the girl lunging forward to grab the failed test grade. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING" She screeched the words, all while lunging forward to snatch the paper back. "You don't just grab other people's personal items like that!!! Are you crazy!?!?" Her lunge was in vain though, and she tripped over the air, landing face down on the floor next to the young girls feet.
Noises were audible outside the bedroom door. "Selene!? Her mother's voice made her cringe, and she swore she could feel more pain other than that of which the fall had conveniently provided for her. She sat up quickly, attempting to lunge for the test again. "Give. It." She hissed through clenched teeth.

A smirk had started to tug at the corners of Rini's lips as she watched the older girl deny that she was yelling, as well as that she was her cousin. It didn't show, yet, but it did make Rini a little nervous on the inside. Perhaps it hadn't been a good idea to "brain wash" the entire family when the entire family wasn't around. As much as she worried, she couldn't have done anything about it. Rini hadn't known that there was a teenage daughter. She wasn't a mind reader. When she did the deed, she had thought that that was all of them. She hadn't figured that small detail out until she saw the pictures around the house, asked the mother and got some answers. Rini had already cursed at herself in her head awhile ago, but... Now that she thought about it, there was a reassuring side to this. She didn't like that one of them knew the truth. What if she started talking and exposed her? The reassuring part was that the girl was a teenager. If she started talking, would anybody believe her? Or would the memories that Rini gave them be enough to overpower their daughter's? And by what she was seeing, the daughter didn't look to be a model daughter or student. Nope. Not by what she was seeing on the now uncrumpled piece of paper in her hand. Not at all. She couldn't judge the first, but the student one she could. This wasn't a straight A, perfect student that she had thought she'd be.
However, as confident as she was feeling right now, when she saw that the girl looked like she was about to laugh, it pricked at Rini's nerves and caused her eyes to narrow. "I am to you're cousin!" Am not really but it was Rini's story and she was sticking to it! "You should be more nice to me or I'll-.. Huh? Oow~!" Again with the screeching!
Rini flinched at the high pitched sound. She would have thrown her hands to her ears once more but she didn't want to drop that important piece of paper in her hands so instead her fingers dug into it slightly as pain crossed her face, not making any marks on the paper other than creasing it some more.
The young girl let out a screech of her own as she quickly took three or so small steps back to avoid being hit by the monster- in her head this was a monster moment- lunging at her. Those steps were lucky for she didn't think her small frame would take the blow very well so the movement wasn't in vain for the teenager had landed right at her feet. She couldn't help it when that smirk returned to her face as she looked down at her.
"No uh! I want to read it so ha!" Rini momentarily stuck her tongue out at her before returning her gaze to the piece of paper. "Lets see..." Taking a moment to really read it over, her eyebrows then raised, this time looking as if she was about to laugh. "You got a thirty!? Wow. Does your mom know? I guessing she doesn't. Oh, maybe I should tell..." She teased, sideways glancing at her. Her attention was diverted however when she heard her name being called from the mother. "Yeah!?" Although she found it odd because she hadn't told the mom that name, she figured she dismissed it as it being in one of the memories they had of her.
What she hadn't noticed, was the cringe that the other girl gave when the name was called. Her eyes didn't turn back to her until she noticed her sitting up and... "Hey!" Eyes widening a portion, Rini took another step back from her and to the side. "Why should I?"
/ / Notes: i'm loving these two xD

-- what's left today, hearts so pure in this broken place. Selene could feel the tears already welling up in her eyes, especially when the voice of her mother only drew nearer. "Now's not the time to be a crybaby, Selene!" She snapped again at the young girl in front of her. "Because it's my paper, kiddo," She stood up again, towering over the intruder. "Now" she started, ready to leap. "Hand it over!" She jumped forward, arms flailing in the air in front of her, ready to completely do away with this girl.
Until, suddenly, the door behind her was thrown open. "SELENE," it shrieked, rivaling the ones that came of of Selene's mouth. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Once again, she fell to the floor with a crash, only this time she could feel the frame of the small girl underneath her own. "Wh-- what? Mom!" She groaned, pain, despair, and confusion all combined into one audible noise. This was ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous, she thought. She wiped her palm against her eyes, quickly hiding the tears, before rolling over again. "This kid is stealing my things," she accused, flinging herself back up to face a very disgruntled woman.

"Now's not the time to be a crybaby, Selene!" As the voice of the teen's mother drew near, Rini's confusion only grew. Huh? Crybaby? Selene? What was she talking about? She wasn't crying! Unless...
With her eyes moving at the tall blonde, a new thought sprung to mind. "Your name's Selene!?" That frustrated/ startled and bothered her in many ways, but the smaller blonde wasn't sure that she had been heard however since "Selene" had spoken at the same time, insisting yet again that she should hand over the paper.
Rini's eyes rolled, and she replied with a pretty simple answer. The hand that held the failed paper was at her hip, her free hand on her right one. And her chin was held high. "Nope!" Her eyes widened right after that. "Wh-Wha... Wah!" She had no time to react to what happened next. It all happened so fast. One moment she was standing, proud and... Well, she had been standing. And then the next moment she was being crushed by a giant. She could have swore that she was seeing stars.
The yells from Mrs. Parker sounded loud in her ears, as well as the groans from the teen. There seemed to be lots of emotions in it but Rini couldn't find the sympathy in her heart to care at the moment what with her body being crushed to pieces! "Get off of me! Get! Off!" Rini screamed at the teen, and let out a relieved gasp for breathe when she had finally rolled off of her.
After being crushed, it felt hard to get up or move at all so Rini just laid there... Until she heard her being accused of stealing. That got the smaller girl to sit up and stare daggers at her accuser. "I am not a kid and I wasn't stealing!" The daggers vanished and were replaced by a softness when she looked at the teens mother. "I wasn't. I came in for a second and she attacked me for no reason!"

-- what's left today, hearts so pure in this broken place. Selene scoffed, almost going along with the temptation to raise her hand and smack this kid on the back of her head. She could feel the daggers being pointed in her direction, but as if she cared about that right now. She rubbed her forehead with a groan, sighing in frustration. "And of course my name is Selene," she snapped and glared right back at the girl, whose face now resembled that of an innocent angel's. "Oh dear god," she thought, wincing at the look. "She's prepared to cute her way out of this mess."
"I wasn't. I came in for a second and she attacked me for no reason!" "Wh-- what!? You were too stealing!" She whined, reeling at the girls claim that she had been attacked for absolutely no reason, though now that she thought about it, she couldn't exactly place what the kid had been stealing. Other than the failing grade, of course, but she didn't want to mention that just yet.
"Mommy,I don't even know who this is!" At that she huffed, finally pulling herself up off of the floor. Though one glance at the expression on her mother's face had her wanting to curl up on the floor again. "I walked in and she--" Selene passed a bewildered look from the girl to her mother, to the girl again. "She was just-- just standing here!"
A horrified expression drew itself across her face when she spotted the crumpled sheet of paper still resting oh so dauntingly in the girl's hand, but her mother spoke up before any more action could be taken. "Selene Parker, stop being so ridiculous!" The command was enough to make her stop in her tracks. She peeked up at her mother sheepishly. "And what do you mean you don't know who this is!? It's your cousin!"
[/i] Selene's jaw dropped at that word. "Cousin!?" She looked at the girl, half glaring, half shocked. "No way, no way, no way." She shook her head furiously. "I've never seen this kid before in my life!"[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]
