Puts on her best smile But holds one thousand words Tutoring seemed to be something Aiko had gotten used to. She did not mind at all, in fact she rather enjoyed being an occasional tutor. She did feel that if she was not pursuing a doctor career, she would pursue to become a teacher. Maybe inheriting her parents views on careers, perhaps. Her father was still a university professor, but had moved to North Korea. He felt awkward living in Tokyo still and fortunately, for his sake, got an offer in North Korea. Just remembering what had happened to her parents, began to annoy her just a small bit. I rather wish you would have worked things out, she thought. Last she had heard from her father was a couple of weeks ago. He sent the monthly letter and called, sometimes, on holidays. If it wasn't a call there was most defiantly a letter. Luckily she never held a grudge, even if she tried she wouldn't be able to. Now would she fully trust them again? Well that is questionable, but it would be negotiable over time.
Shrugging off the bitter divorce thoughts, Aiko walked into the Junior High and remembered her own school years here. During her years, most students would say they had a wonderful school year and hung out with so many people. Not Aiko, not her in the least bit. If she had a friend it really didn't seem to last long. Her still friends are just one or two, which is about it. Even those few don't hang out to much. There is one friend who seems to try and push her limit. Something she would rather not have, but she does know that complete solitude was never healthy. Then again goodbyes would just be worse, melodramatic yes. She could not deny that one bit, but she really didn't want awkward goodbyes when she leaves.
As she walked by the cafeteria, she remembered spending little time in there. She had always brought a meal from home and gone straight to her usual secluded area, outside. On a usual good day, her lunch was quiet and peaceful. Her seclusion was always nice and something she never wanted to give up. Not that she wouldn't refuse her few friends she did have. Shaking away those memories, the tutor arrived at her desitnation.
The little girl she was charged with did not speak Japanese quite well, also didn't understand it. From what she was told at the very least. She would start with the basics and not push Selene to much. She was told the girl was sweet, but really did not like school or schoolwork. It really did not surprise her much at all. Most people were not into school or schoolwork. Well the first time, like this afternoon, she would not make Selene do to much. She had brought a workbook, notebook, and some pens. Just in case Selene did not have paper or anything to write with. In all honesty, Aiko was a bit nervous to be meeting Selene. It did make it better to know she was helping her though. Made 98 percent of the nervous go away. Aiko walked into the Junior High's Library and found a secluded table. Now to play the waiting game, she thought as she sat in an empty seat.

i walked across, AN EMPTY LAND. I KNEW THE PATHWAY LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND. I FELT THE EARTH BENEATH MY FEET. SAT BY THE RIVER AND IT MADE ME COMPLETE. OH, SIMPLE THING, WHERE HAVE YOU GONE? I'M GETTING OLD AND I NEED SOMETHING TO RELY ON. SO TELL ME WHEN YOU'RE GONNA LET ME IN. I'M GETTING TIRED AND I NEED SOMEWHERE |
[/size][/div] to begin,
somewhere only we know
She was late! She was late. Oh, how she was late... Was it really a bad thing if she was late?
That thought alone had caused the young blonde to stop where she was within the schools hallway about two short lefts and a right away from the library. The new thoughts forming and spreading throughout her mind had caused her to start rethinking all of this... It hadn't exactly been like she had signed up for tutoring. It wasn't her fault that she had kept being called on in class... And couldn't understand most of the students in those classes... Or her teachers half the time... So she couldn't speak the language correctly. Did it really matter?.. Unfortunately, it did. Even if she didn't want to admit it.
Rini had studied the language several times in her home time, but it just hadn't made as much sense to her as she had hoped. So she would stop, take a break, and avoid learning any more languages for as long as she could. Naturally, she was still trying to avoid it, but Rini had found that adults were stubborn in the thirtieth century and the twentieth. If they wanted you to do something, you were most likely going to do it no matter what. And that was how Rini had been roped into being tutored after school by some teenager from the high school. Wantanabe Aiko; that was the name that her history teacher had told her before the bell rung telling everybody to get out of their sixth period class and go to their seventh, which for Rini was gym and she did not mind missing that, but still, that didn't change her mind. She still didn't want to go to meet her tutor, but with her backpack slung over her right shoulder she continued to make her way to the school's library, pushing the left of the double doors open when she arrived, and stepped inside, her blue eyes immediately wandering over the unfamiliar area to find her tutor.
It wasn't that hard of a search.
After taking a few steps in, Rini had spotted the older teen sitting at a secluded table not far away. Well, lets get this over with. She mentally murmured bitterly to herself as she then made her way up to the table, stopping behind a vacant seat and looking at the tutor. "Uhm, hi? Aiko?" Puts on her best smile But holds one thousand words Biting her lip she began to think of the current novel she was reading. Gone With the Wind was such a romantic successful novel, her favorite and a classic. Although would anyone see her reading while she read this? She really did not want Selene to come in and find reading a romance novel. Anyone catching her, besides her mother, would embarass her. Her mother thinks it is rather amusing that Aiko would rather read about romance, than actually put herself out there.
Aiko reached into her bag and took out the rather thick novel. How many times have I read this? She thought after looking at the title. Well many times she does know this for a fact, in fact she had also read the script for the movie. Such beautiful writing, Aiko thought. Stroking her thumb in a comforting way across the cover, she opened the book to where she left off. Reading a little bit until Selene arrived couldn't hurt anything.
As her mind took in the literary work once more, Aiko tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. A Civil War and a romance, so romantic and sad at the same time. Well with any war between a relationship it would be the same. Her gaze quickly went to the door and around her. No sign of anyone, well besides people who were already in here. Aiko was sure to be the obvious tutor, obviously because Aiko was the oldest one in there besides the librarian.
Hmm, she began to think, I wonder if anyone is a total study worm like I am. With that thought, it brought a chuckle and an obvious no. It was quite rare to meet anyone who was so into schoolwork like she was. She then remembered someone asking her a question Aiko really could not answer. Most good friendships and relationships start at a young age, at least in high school or junior high, Aiko was avoiding relationships and had few friends. Most she could retaliate with was, meeting people when her career was set. She did not even know if her career would be in Tokyo, would be to sad to leave people behind. Would I even be able to say goodbye if all that happened? Aiko thought. She was quickly pulled out of her thoughts by a voice. Oh, Aiko thought. She quickly put away her novel and gave Selene a smile.
"Yes, I'm Aiko. It's nice to meet you Selene." Aiko said. "I promise to make this as painless as I can. I was told you are not a big fan of schoolwork."
