ANYTHING ELSE WE NEED TO KNOW: She has never been in a relationship. Stutters if she is late for anything. Her outlet in life is writing and swimming. Aiko is fluent in Japanese and English, she is currently learning how to write and speak in German.
PERSONALITY: Friendship is a luxory that Aiko has had on rare occasions. Extroverted is not the trait you would use to describe her, she is very introverted, because of this people see her as snobby. Being a straight A student and the teachers' favorite does not help that either. However, this has not really bothered Aiko. Her studies and being accepted to study abroad is always at the top of her to-do list. When the girl does have friends, she is very loyal to them and often brings up the suggestion to study. The normal sleepover with her would be study, eat, study/hangout, and sleep. Through this headstrong and studious personality, Aiko is a very gentle and caring person. She does deeply care about others and their safety.
Oh the romance that makes Aiko so nervous, she begins to blush and deny it. Her studies are far more important anyways. Romance has never been a success, or a real want from her. She has gotten the rare secret admirer, on the very rare occasions she does, Aiko will blush and try not to think to much on it. Yes romance does interest her, but it is something that she doesn't want for herself quite yet. Every guy that has tried to get close, she has pushed away and not gotten close to them. Another reason why people would consider her snobby. Through all this romance, she does love a good romance novel that captures her heart. Although she is to embarrassed to make this known, she tries to make it clear she isn't interested, it would just be odd.
Enemies is something that Aiko really does not like to have. Sadly many people have spread rumors of her and disliked her, hint the introverted being seen as being snobby. She does not like the fact that rumors spread, especially the simple misinterpretation of her being shy. Even though she greatly dislikes this, the girl will not complain or start anything. The rooftop on the school, under a quiet tree, and at the library are the places she loves to be alone. Often at school lunchtime she will be found on the roof. Gives her more quiet to study and she won't bother anyone else up there.

HISTORY:
Tomoe Himuro, Aiko's mother, always had a dream of being a doctor and studying abroad. Before Tomoe went to study abroad, she had a subtle non reltionship with Satoshi Daito, the brief meetings and special words were their "dates". Wishing his "lover" goodbye was something Satoshi really did not wish to do, although he to had a career to pursue. He wished to become a university professor and teach English. Tomoe was off to study abroad and Satoshi was off to America.
One year after Tomoe had left to study abroad, she had stopped getting letters from Satoshi. Thinking he had found someone else, she thought the relationship was officially over. Making her wonder if they should have spent more time together. Possibly even gone on actual dates, but then what about her career? Could it really happen while growing a relationship. Realizing these thoughts were distracting her, Tomoe realized it truly was for the best. Those simple thoughts were distracting her mind, just imagine if a guy had gone even further to distract her. With this, Tomoe was at peace with what had happened.
Satoshi had only reached a bump in the road for quite a while. He had wrote many letters and for some reason they didn't seem to reach Tomoe. He had learned perfect English and was still learning about the culture. In fact, he was making plans to move back to Japan. However, money was a huge issue with Satoshi. He was living in a very small apartment and had two part-time jobs. When Tomoe stopped writing him he did fear what was going through her mind. With all this in mind, he really did not wish to stay in America much longer. He could continue school in Japan and he already was advanced in his classes. He also hoped that perhaps Tomoe's family could help him out in contact her. Making up his mind, he was able to transfer to Japan and use his money to move back home.
When Satoshi arrived home in Japan, he shortly found Tomoe had returned home as well. Studying abroad had only lasted for a year and she was now in intern. It didn't take long for Satoshi to convince Tomoe to get back together with him. In fact they now acted even more like a couple, they had actual dates and finally exchanged the phrase I love you. After a year of dating, the couple decided to move in together. Why rush into marriage? Tomoe was almost officially a doctor and Satoshi was a teaching assistant at a University in Tokyo. Another year later, Tomoe had become a doctor at a hospital in Tokyo and Satoshi had begun teaching English in high school. It had been recommended to him to start off with high school, after a year or two of that, then try moving to a university position. They had bought a nice home and was making a good life for each other, feeling like it was the right time Satoshi popped the question. Tomoe accepted his proposal and began planning their wedding. They had their careers set and they had a home, yes it would be a good time.
Soon after getting married, Tomoe found herself pregnant with a girl. Aiko Chie was decided for their daughter's name, Aiko meaning love child and Chie meaning wisdom. Life continued like it had been, along with preparing the coming child. A daughter was being added and soon the three would be a family. Her mother was thrilled and her father seemed to be more happy than his wife, which did make Satoshi a bit worried. On September tenth, Aiko Chie Watanabe was born.
With Satoshi being a English teacher, he figured that Aiko would make a great student. After all her middle name did mean wisdom, he would have a child that would be fluent in both Japanese and English. When Aiko was getting a bit older, she was introduced to the English language, learning a little bit at a time. Americans and other English speakers were constantly staying or visiting Japan, learning the language would greatly help out. Tomoe had no real reason to object to this, the smarter the child the better. When Tomoe was not at the hospital, her outlet was baking with Aiko. They would put on aprons and bake cookies, cake, brownies, just about any baked treat one could think of. Something that Aiko always loved to do with her mother, she never minded putting down what she was doing for this experience. When Aiko reached the age of nine, she began speaking English quite well, but not as fluent as Japanese. She also had learned how to read before actually going to school, something her parents wanted to do. They felt that a child who learned how to read and write before school, had a higher chance of success.
As the years passed, Tomoe worked longer and worked nights at the hospital. Satoshi had become a University professor and this would take up much of his time. He spent much of his time at the University, sometimes wouldn't come home until Tomoe had left for the night. Sadly the relationship between the couple was getting thinner and thinner. This left Aiko a bit distant, but would enjoy her small time they would spend together. If the family actually got together for a few hours, it was rare and a delight for Aiko. AIko's days was spent at school and then being taken home by her father. He would take off an hour to pick her up and drop her off at their home. Immediately he would make sure her babysitter was coming and go back to the University. Her mother was constantly sleeping and before she would fall asleep for the day, she would always prepare a dinner for her husband and daughter. She would let the babysitter know how to finish making the food, then she would retreat to her bed.
When Aiko turned thirteen, she had the horror and watching her parent's marriage break up. It had turned out that Satoshi had been having an affair at the University and Tomoe had not been giving him his "needs". Wanting a healthier marriage, Satoshi filed for divorce and left Tomoe for his assistant. Tomoe got custody of Aiko and they moved to a condo in Tokyo. Aiko's mother began working more hours, sadly this caused Aiko to not see her mother as much. A marriage is sacred and should never be broken, Aiko strongly felt this way about marriage and could not believe her father would do something like this. She did tell her parents how she felt and what marriage should be, Tomoe agreed and Satoshi said,"not every marriage can work, some people get along better seperated." Aiko does not wish to find love any time soon, not that she never does or anything, however she wants her career set before she finds the one she wants. She will make time to treat her husband well and will always keep her child in mind. Tomoe had remained strong, but Aiko really wished that she had fought more to save her marriage. Aiko does not see much of her father anymore, only the occasional meeting up to see his daughter. Satoshi does send gifts for holidays and cards to his daughter. He did not want his daughter to think the marriage was her fault. Only thing wrong with that is, she knows it is not her fault. If anyone was to blame it was both parents, they put so much into their careers, it broke them up. Not all love is like this, but she hopes that her future marriage will not end like this.
When going into high school, she was given the chance to skip a grade. Her grades were phenomanal and her exams were top in the city, Aiko turned this option down. Skipping a grade sounded good and all, but she wanted to stay in the age range that she was in. Didn't mean she would not take up extra classes and classes after school hours. In fact on rare occasions, the teacher would ask for Aiko's help during class.
Becoming a doctor had become a dream of Aiko's since she was eight, she wanted to study abroad like her mother had. In high school this didn't change. At home she had her mother's old med books and even updated med books. Studying those books for future schooling never hurt. In fact it made her more prepared. Her mother stopped working as many hours, but still worked night shifts. This didn't bother Aiko in any way shape of form, sure she missed her mother at times, but being a doctor is important. Tomoe didn't work so much to where she was rarely seen, as long as that wasn't the case Aiko had no problem with it. Aiko was normally at the library or classes anyways.
Not much has changed in her life since being in high school. Still not many friends and men don't seem to take much interest. The few that had got a quick, but gentle, rejection. She would blush and be completely honest. She was not ready for a relationship. Eating on the school's rooftop for lunch has been her spot all her school life, she rather enjoys the quiet and not being bothered by the gossip on the ground. Aiko hears enough about it in the halls and class, not to mention hearing the whispering about her being snobby. When people will actually take time to talk to her, she does act very friendly to them and shows them how she isn't snobby.
