The two had a good relationship, but it had been better before, and now she just never knew what to say to him, and she had a feeling that he had the same problem. They hadn’t ever really talked since it happened, and it seemed as though they never would. After she’d put the season four disc in the player, Zo walked toward her brother’s room, just to glance at the condition it was probably in. Surely enough, there was laundry piled in the corner. At least it’s all in one place, she thought to herself. Knowing he wouldn’t be getting around to it anytime soon, she scooped it up into her arms and took it to the laundry room, throwing it into the washing machine. Once she’d started the load, she returned to the living room and pressed ‘play’, then plopped down on the couch. It was still relatively early; when she looked at the clock, it read 7:13. She still had a relatively long night ahead of her, with nothing interesting to keep her properly occupied. Sure, she liked a night to herself once in a while, but she always felt awkward being alone, which was why she ended up spending a great deal of her time with her friends, so she could avoid having to spend time with herself. Unfortunately, it seemed that tonight she didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, and she would be stuck here for the remainder of the night. [/ul] notes; this post is utterly horrible, and I apologize to everyone. I guess it just isn’t my week or something. word count; 396 tag; jaden!

So many things came to mind when Jaden thought of what he could do today. Write? Drink? Walk? Party? It was a Friday night, and the opportunities were almost endless. A pen hung from his fingers, and in front of him on his desk was a small list of possible plans. None of it was appealing though, not tonight. Only the last option caught his mind.
Visit Zo.
He laughed sheepishly at the though, shaking his head and letting the pen fall roll onto the desk. He stretched back, yawning and putting his arms behind his head. It had been an interesting past few weeks. His only friend in his life had earned the potential to be his girlfriend. A few awkward discussions had brought the possibility to light, but nothing much more had happened... yet.
He stood up, pulling on his shoes, grabbing his car keys, and took a long breath before smoothing his hair back with the palm of his hand and walking out the door. He didn't bother to let his parents know where he was going, as per usual, and he was soon on his way to Zo's.
He got there quickly, knowing the directions like he knew the palm of his sweaty hands. It was so stupid for him to be nervous, and when he pulled into the driveway he scrubbed his hands on his jeans, making sure they were as dry as possible. He got out of the car and walked towards the door. He stood there quietly, almost considering turning around and driving to the nearest bar possible, but his instincts betrayed him and he rapped his knuckles against the door twice, before simply letting himself in. He wasn't hesitant in the slightest about entering the home. This whole process certainly wasn't anything new.
He closed the door behind him. "Honey, I'm home," he laughed, taking off his jacket and hanging it off the doorknob, grinning mischievously.

cut out all the ropes and let me fall - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Zo smiled, but immediately bit her lower lip in an attempt to hide it as she turned around. Of course, as she’d guessed, it was Jaden standing in front of the door, making it apparent to her that she really didn’t need pants. He’d seen her in her general ‘outfit’ of a t-shirt and boyshorts plenty of times before, anyway. Doing her best to bury that nervous feeling she always felt when she saw him, she crossed her arms as she faced him, raising an eyebrow. ”Do you even know the meaning of patience?” she asked with a smirk, and walked toward him. ”What brings you here? I thought you would’ve gone out. Or could you really not make it through the night without seeing me?” Though she pretended to be surprised to see him, she’d secretly been hoping that he would show up. She often wondered what things would be like if they were to ever be more than best friends, but she refused to ever find out, even though they had had plenty of conversations about it in the past few weeks. When he wanted definite answers, though, she always found a way to avoid responding, and would change the subject. He knew how she felt about relationships, yet continued to bring it up one way or another. More importantly, she knew him too well; she knew his personality backwards and forward, and could hardly imagine him being the boyfriend type. It was safer to keep things as they were, rather than change everything just so it could get all screwed up forever. Before she knew it, she was only standing a couple of inches away from him. She immediately stopped herself, even if a part of her had wanted to continue moving closer until it was impossible to go any further. There would always be that part of her, wanting to be the girl that allowed herself to fall, that could actually deal with such feelings. It was taking a good deal of effort for her to contain that, though, and to pretend her heartbeat hadn’t sped up since he walked through the door. [/ul] notes; lots of rambling and girly feelings…bleh. word count; 444 tag; jaden!

Thoughts were running through his mind so fast that it almost made him dizzy. He would have to ignore it though-- he had to look normal, calm, cool. ”Do you even know the meaning of patience?” He cocked an eyebrow. "Hmm," his tone was dripping with a fake, pondering tone. "Nope, don't think so." He grinned, shaking his head. "I thought you knew me a little bit more than that, Zo. Honestly." He reflected her and crossed his arms as well.
”What brings you here? I thought you would’ve gone out. Or could you really not make it through the night without seeing me?” He shook his head, looking down at the ground, a hint of bashfulness on his face. "Well," he started, looking up to his friend. He suddenly felt flushed. Why was he here? Things could only get awkward, and he absolutely despised awkward. "It was either this, or another wild night out Club Genius." His mind wandered to what was going on at the club he found himself in so many a Friday night, and how much more comfortable and in the zone he'd feel their.
But this was his home away from home, wasn't it? He almost nodded. Yes, it was. How could he be so ridiculous? "And this place is a hell of a lot more fun, isn't it?" And then suddenly she was there. Right in front of him, only a few inches away. His eyes wandered to her face, taking a mental picture. This was his best friend, Zo, and she was probably one of the most beautiful girls he'd ever had the pleasure of meeting.
"So," he started, feeling the blood tinge his cheeks. "What will you be doing to entertain me this evening?" He went quiet after that, a small smile on his face.
ooc: sorry this took forever. ;o; i hate me so much.

cut out all the ropes and let me fall - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ”Hm…” She rolled her eyes. ”Guess you’re right. I don’t know you at all,” she replied sarcastically. ”One thing I do know is that your options must be really lacking. You always make it seem like you have absolutely no friends or something.” Thoughts were running through her mind left and right, and Zo found herself stepping back from him. ”Aren’t there plenty more things to do at Genius, though? Like, I don’t know, girls?” she asked as she walked into the kitchen. She opened the fridge and pulled out the last Coke, not bothering to let him know. Instead, she wanted the satisfaction of knowing she would be the cause of his frustration when he went looking for it later. "And this place is a hell of a lot more fun, isn't it?"Zo giggled and leaned back against the counter. ”I don’t think I understand your definition of fun. As far as I know, you’re not getting all that much action here.” She pushed herself up, seating herself on the countertop, and examined him from a distance. For the longest time, she had been almost certain that he didn’t really see her as a girl, not like most other guys did. She couldn’t really say they were ever like siblings, but there was something there, and for whatever reason, Jaden had chosen to point it out recently. It confused her quite a bit, because he just didn’t seem like the romantic type, and that was what she wanted, though she kept it to herself. She never told anyone what her type was – or if she even had a type for that matter – or if she wanted a real relationship at all. “So, what will you be doing to entertain me this evening?"”Huh?” Apparently, she had zoned out entirely. Oh damn, she thought to herself, I must’ve been staring. She shook her head and took a sip of her soda. ”Well, that depends,” she finally replied, her lips curving into a small smirk. ”I’m sure you already have something in mind, anyway, so you may as well tell me now and make it a little easier.” [/ul] notes; I’m sorry. That’s all. word count; 371 tag; jaden!
